Servant ministry is vital to the understanding of our faith. The members of Mount Pisgah are involved in a variety of outreach and mission projects designed to serve others in our community. Some of the many opportunities are listed below.
Methodist Programs
Financial support is provided for United Methodist mission projects and programs throughout our community and around the world. Such programs include the United Methodist Children’s Home, United Methodist Committee on Relief, United Methodist Agency for the Retarded, Disciple Bible Outreach, and support for Methodist missionaries in locations around the globe.
Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries
Church members facilitate two year-long Disciple Bible Study programs each year at Piedmont Correctional Facility in Salisbury, NC. For more information, contact Darrell Sayles at (336) 282-0168 or Mac McNairy at (336) 282-1812.
Homeless and Needy
We actively support Greensboro Urban Ministry with donations and by serving meals at the GUM Night Shelter. We collect several thousand pounds of food each year in the semi-annual food drive, as well as prepare and serve meals at the shelter on the 2nd Friday of each month. Different church groups share the meal preparation responsibility. Any of the groups would be delighted to have you serve with them. If you have an interest in this ministry, contact the Church Office at (336) 288-3321 or view the Night Shelter schedule.
Additionally, we provide financial support to Summit House, Clara House, and the Hospice Food Pantry. We also contribute to “Inasmuch,” an organization that collects and distributes food to the children in Greensboro’s public housing areas. Mount Pisgah's food item is boxed macaroni & cheese. You can contribute mac & cheese to the blue bins around the church at any time.
Elderly
We volunteer for and financially support Mobile Meals, Shepherd’s Center, and the Adult Center for Enrichment.
Our staff members visit several nursing home and assisted living facilities in the community. If you would like to assist in visiting or if you have someone in one of the facilities the church serves, they will be eager to visit with your loved one.
Red Cross Blood Drives
Mount Pisgah partners with the American Red Cross to sponsor quarterly blood drives. We provide the facility, help promote the drives, assist in executing the drives, and generally provide about two-thirds of the donors! Anyone 17 years or older and weighing at least 110 pounds is eligible to donate blood.
Blood drives are held on the first or second Monday during March, June, September and December from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Contact Jim Brown at (336) 852-9816 for more information.
Refugees
Mount Pisgah is active in the sponsorship and resettlement of refugees. We coordinate with Lutheran Family Services and have settled refugees from Vietnam, Cambodia, Bosnia, and “Lost Boys” of the Sudan.
Crop Walk for Hunger
An annual walkathon to raise money for local and world hunger which is supported by walkers and sponsors.
Building Teams
Each year members of our church travel to foreign countries to support building teams and conduct mission work. Locally, we support Habitat for Humanity.
